On June 19, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Ilkhomjon Umrzakov met with a delegation led by Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of China Chen Huayu. Representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Eximbank of China took part in the negotiations.
The main attention was paid to the issues of enhancing bilateral cooperation to implement the agreements reached at the level of the heads of state of Uzbekistan and China within the framework of the second Central Asia — China summit. Prospects for financing joint projects in infrastructure sectors, including hydropower, transport and telecommunications, were discussed. Special emphasis was placed on initiatives implemented using public-private partnership mechanisms.
Representatives of the Export-Import Bank of China noted the stable position of Uzbekistan in international ratings and the positive investment climate created for foreign investors. Further development of cooperation within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, as well as support for small and medium-sized businesses and attracting investment in the manufacturing sectors of the economy are among the priority areas.
Following the talks, the parties confirmed their intention to continue consultations on international financial markets, investment cooperation and infrastructure development, as well as ensuring financial stability.
