Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid 2026
Toyota has unveiled an updated version of its popular plug — in hybrid, the Prius Plug-in Hybrid for the 2026 model year. The new product combines an upgraded hybrid system, improved fuel efficiency and new technological solutions, including the ability to recharge from a solar roof. The model range includes the standard SE and XSE trim levels, a special Nightshade Edition with a unique design, and the top-end XSE Premium version.
The Prius Plug-in Hybrid 2026 is based on the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System. The powertrain includes a 2.0-liter gasoline engine combined with two electric motors. The total power reaches 220 horsepower. The average fuel consumption is claimed at 2.2 liters per 100 km, which makes this model one of the most economical in the segment. The 13.6 kWh lithium-ion battery provides an electric power reserve of up to 71 km in the SE version and up to 65 km in the XSE, Nightshade Edition and XSE Premium versions.
Charging the battery from a household outlet (120 V) takes about 11 hours. When using a Level 2 charger, the process is reduced to 4 hours. The car supports three driving modes: EV (pure electric drive), Auto EV/HV (automatic selection between electric and hybrid modes) and Hybrid (joint operation of gasoline and electric motors).
The special Nightshade Edition features a black-accented design. Black is used for emblems, door handles, bumpers, and door sills. Standard equipment includes 19-inch black alloy wheels. There are three color options available for the body: Karashi, Wind Chill Pearl and Midnight Black Metallic.
Depending on the configuration, the interior is finished with fabric or artificial SofTex leather. All versions are equipped with a digital dashboard and Toyota Audio Multimedia system. Among the available technologies-Traffic Jam Assist to help when driving in traffic jams at speeds up to 40 km / h — The XSE and XSE Premium versions are additionally equipped with adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system with steering and a Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 package. For the top-end configuration, an optional 185 W solar roof is available that can recharge the battery while parked.
Toyota is offering extended warranty coverage for the Prius Plug-in Hybrid 2026. The basic warranty is 36 months or 58,000 km. The powertrain is guaranteed for 60 months or 96,500 km, while the hybrid components are guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000 km. The battery is guaranteed for 10 years or 241,000 km. Anti-corrosion protection is provided without a mileage limit. All buyers will receive ToyotaCare with free scheduled maintenance for two years or 40,000 km and round-the-clock roadside assistance for three years.
The Prius Plug-in Hybrid 2026 is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2025. The manufacturer's recommended retail price starts at $ 33,775 for the SE package (excluding additional dealer fees).
