The fourth meeting of heads of ministries and departments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states responsible for the development of information and communication technologies was held in Karamai, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The participants discussed strategic directions of digital interaction in the region and measures to accelerate the digital transformation processes.
The meeting focused on the introduction of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, big data processing, cloud computing, and smart city concepts. Prospects for joint initiatives in the field of information security, development of digital infrastructure, improvement of public administration and the digital economy were considered.
Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov took part in the meeting from the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Following the meeting, the parties approved an Action Plan to strengthen cooperation in the field of digital transformation. The document defines the key areas of interaction:
- working together on digital transformation policies;
- development and modernization of digital infrastructure;
- introduction of digital government;
- cooperation in the field of cloud technologies;
- digitalization of small and medium-sized businesses;
- development and distribution of new digital solutions;
- personnel exchange and training programs for specialists.
The adopted plan is designed to help harmonize the efforts of the SCO countries in creating a single digital space and strengthen regional cooperation in this area.
