On June 12, a global failure in the operation of Internet services was recorded: problems with Google, OpenAI, YouTube, Discord and telecom operators

On June 12, users around the world experienced large-scale interruptions in the operation of key online services. According to the Downdetector portal, crashes were recorded on the Twitch, Discord, Snapchat, Spotify, YouTube platforms, as well as on Google services, including the Gemini AI platform.

Some services are completely unavailable, while others experience significant slowdowns or failures during authorization. Spotify users complain about the inability to play music through the app — an error appears at launch. Similar problems also affected OpenAI: including access to ChatGPT is difficult.

Serious violations were recorded in the work of American telecommunications operators-Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. Users report unstable connectivity, problems with data transmission, and inability to open websites and apps.

Although the official cause of the failure has not yet been confirmed, among the likely sources of the problem, technical experts call a failure in the authorization system of the Cloudflare CDN platform,as well as possible problems with the Google Cloud Platform cloud infrastructure. Both systems play a critical role in the functioning of the global Internet and providing access to web services.

At the time of publication, official representatives of the companies whose services were affected have not commented on the situation. Work is underway to localize the problem and restore stable operation of the platforms.
