Samsung Electronics has introduced a new update for its Bespoke AI smart refrigerators with the Family Hub interface, which implements the multi-voice user identification function. The update expands the capabilities of the built-in Bixby voice assistant, allowing the device to recognize which family members are accessing it, and adapt the information displayed on the screen to a specific user.
Personalization technology is implemented on the basis of voice analysis: the refrigerator is able to determine who exactly gave the command, and depending on this, displays individual data — a personal calendar, favorite photos, or set visual design settings. Thus, the device becomes not just a kitchen appliance, but part of the personalized digital ecosystem of the home. Users can also activate functions related to other devices: for example, set an alarm on their smartphone with a voice command, without touching the phone itself.
The update pays special attention to users with visual impairments. If a person has special modes activated on the paired smartphone — such as color inversion or grayscale display-the refrigerator automatically adapts the interface on its display, providing a comfortable visual response. This solution makes interaction with technology more accessible to all categories of users and demonstrates Samsung's commitment to inclusive design.
The new feature also confirms Samsung's strategic focus on integrating voice services into everyday household appliances. In the absence of a successful line of its own smart speakers, the company is banking on expanding Bixby's capabilities through a platform of household appliances, including refrigerators, ovens, and washing machines. The smart refrigerator is actually becoming an entry point to the smart home ecosystem.
Additionally, the update introduces a new way to activate the voice assistant. Now Bixby can be launched not only by voice command or tapping on the screen, but also by simply double-tapping the disabled refrigerator display-a gesture designed to simplify interaction and make it more intuitive.
Samsung continues to transform the concept of home appliances, making them not only functional, but also intelligently focused on individual user needs. A smart refrigerator that can "recognize" every family member is another step towards deep personalization of the digital space in the home.
