Huawei has officially introduced a new generation of flagship smartphones — the Pura80 series, headed by the Pura80 Ultra model. The novelty immediately attracted attention as one of the main contenders for the title of the best camera phone of the year. Thanks to the unique periscope system, high-tech optics and a number of engineering solutions, the smartphone is positioned as a direct competitor to the future iPhone 17 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Camera: Next-generation periscope and flagship-class sensors
The main technological advantage of the Huawei Pura80 Ultra is an advanced periscope camera consisting of two independent lenses at once:
- The first one provides an optical zoom of 3.7 x,
- The second is a 9.4 x optical zoom,
Both modules are paired with a 50-megapixel 1/1. 28-inch large format sensor, built according to the RYYB scheme for increased light sensitivity.
The main module of the smartphone is equipped with an inch sensor (50 Mp) with a variable aperture of F / 1.6–F / 4.0, which allows you to adapt the illumination of the frame to different shooting conditions. An additional ultra-wide-angle camera received a 40-megapixel RYYB sensor, expanding the creative potential of the flagship.
Screen and protection: Premium OLED and Kunlun 2.0 glass
The Huawei Pura80 Ultra features a 6.8-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3000 nits, making it one of the brightest screens on the market. Protection is provided by the second generation of Kunlun glass, the strength of which, according to the manufacturer, is increased:
- Scratch resistance-16 times higher,
- Drop resistance — 25 times higher compared to the previous version.
Performance and software platform
The Pura80 Ultra is one of the first smartphones to ship with the new HarmonyOS 5.1 operating system out of the box. The updated OS includes a new generation of intelligent assistant, enhanced interaction with the Huawei ecosystem, and faster interface performance (up to 36% higher performance and 47% more smoothness compared to the Pura70 Pro+).
Connectivity, autonomy, and charging
The model supports satellite communication (two systems), is equipped with an NFC module and stereo speakers.
The 5700 mAh battery supports fast charging:
- Wired — 100 W,
- Wireless — 80 W,
- this allows the device to take a leading position in terms of autonomy and speed of charge recovery.
Configurations and sales start date
The launch of sales of Huawei Pura80 Ultra is scheduled for June 26, 2025. The smartphone will be available in two configurations:
- 16 GB RAM / 512 GB ROM-priced at $1,390,
- 16 GB RAM / 1 TB ROM — $1,530.
With the launch of the Pura80 Ultra, Huawei is making a strong bid for leadership in the premium segment of mobile photography and high-tech mobile electronics. The unique camera, next-generation HarmonyOS, and hardware innovations form a powerful offering against the backdrop of growing competition with Apple and Samsung.
