Nissan and Silence unveil Nanocar series of urban electric vehicles
Nissan and Silence, a subsidiary of Spain's Acciona, have announced the launch of an expanded range of ultra-compact electric vehicles, the S04 Nanocar, specifically designed for urban mobility. The new series includes four models that are already available exclusively through Nissan's European dealer network. Manufacturers are betting on affordability, energy efficiency and an innovative battery replacement system-a solution that can change the perception of urban transport.
Range of models: from basic to commercial
The S04 range includes:
All models are equipped with a weather-proof interior with air conditioning and heating, easily chargeable removable batteries that can be connected to a standard outlet. Through the My Silence mobile app, users get access to keyless entry, remote control, and route planning features.
Fast battery replacement: step towards a new ownership model
The key technological breakthrough of the project was the implementation of the Battery as a Service (BaaS) system — a subscription model for batteries with the possibility of their prompt replacement. This summer, Nissan and Acciona will begin piloting rapid battery replacement stations in France, starting in Paris. Stations located in dealerships, gas stations, and public parking lots will allow you to replace the battery in less than 30 seconds, which solves the problem of long-term charging.
There are already 160 battery exchange stations operating in Spain, and the number will grow to 200 by the end of the year. A subscription option is also provided, which can save customers up to 2000 euros on models with two batteries — while the first year of the subscription is provided free of charge.
The new Silence S04 range of electric vehicles, developed in partnership with Nissan, demonstrates a strategic shift towards eco-friendly, affordable and flexible urban transport. The integration of the fast battery replacement system and the BaaS model opens up new horizons in urban mobility, reducing barriers to the transition to electric vehicles and offering real solutions to reduce transport costs in megacities.
