Jennifer Lopez concert in Tashkent: a cultural event with an international resonance

The concert of the world-famous singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, planned in the capital of Uzbekistan, aroused considerable interest outside the country, becoming an international event even before the official start. According to the Tourism Committee, referring to the organizers of the event, in the first five days from the start of sales, 40% of tickets were purchased by foreign citizens from 35 different countries.
The largest number of applications came from the CIS and Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. At the same time, the concert attracted the attention of viewers from far abroad — among the ticket buyers are citizens of the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Canada and Saudi Arabia.
According to experts of the tourism industry, such a high international interest is not only a cultural phenomenon, but also a powerful economic impulse. Hotel occupancy in the capital is expected to increase, domestic consumption is expected to pick up, and business activity in related sectors such as the restaurant business, transport services, tourism, and retail is expected to increase.
It is noted that most foreign guests plan to spend from three to five days in Uzbekistan, which creates an additional multiplier effect for small and medium-sized businesses. This also increases the inflow of foreign currency earnings and contributes to higher employment in the service sector.
Experts emphasize that holding events of this level contributes to strengthening the international image of Uzbekistan as a culturally attractive and open country. Not only does the tourist awareness increase, but also the investment attractiveness of the creative sector increases, which, in turn, creates prerequisites for the formation of a sustainable cultural brand of the republic.
Despite the high demand, the cost of tickets remains a subject of discussion in the public space. Prices vary from 1 to 4.1 million soums depending on the sector and location of the venues, which makes the concert inaccessible to a part of the local audience. Nevertheless, according to the organizers, the high quality of the show and the scale of the event justify the pricing policy.
Jennifer Lopez's concert in Tashkent becomes not just an entertainment event, but a strategic step in positioning Uzbekistan as a new cultural hub in the region — with open prospects for further attracting global artists, expanding cultural exchange and developing the event tourism industry.
