GPD introduced the MicroPC 2, an ultra-compact laptop with a 7-inch screen and an Intel N250 processor

Given the dominance of large ultrabooks and powerful gaming laptops, devices with a truly compact form factor have become a rarity. Nevertheless, GPD decided to remind about the segment of pocket PCs, introducing a new model-MicroPC 2. This is a miniature laptop with a classic design and a screen diagonal of only 7 inches, weighing less than 500 grams.

Despite its size, the MicroPC 2 is equipped with a modern filling. The device is based on the Intel N250 processor, which belongs to the current generation of energy-efficient chips. It includes four small cores with a clock frequency of up to 3.8 GHz and an integrated graphics core with 32 execution units, which makes it one of the most productive solutions in the class of ultra-compact systems based on "atomic" processors.

The amount of RAM is 16 GB, and the drive is an SSD with a PCIe 4.0 interface. Although the exact amount is not specified, the very fact that this standard is supported indicates a serious speed of work even in such a tiny case.

The design of the MicroPC 2 largely repeats the first model: it retains the ability to open the screen 180 degrees, and the case is focused on practical use in conditions of limited space. The device can be used as a mobile workstation for administrators, engineers, field service specialists, or just those who need a full-fledged PC in a pocket format.

Against the background of the disappearance of the once popular netbook class, MicroPC 2 looks like a unique representative of the forgotten format, updated for modern tasks. The full list of features and price has not yet been revealed.
