Electronic purchases of agricultural products increase the transparency of the agricultural market
As previously reported, starting from March 1, 2025, Uzbekistan introduced a new mechanism that allows exporters who purchase agricultural products from individuals to issue purchase certificates in electronic form. This measure was an important step towards digitalization of the agricultural sector, allowing us to establish a systematic analysis of market demand and product sales volumes, as well as to increase the level of transparency and efficiency of document management.
One of the key advantages of the new system is the simplification of the registration procedure: when forming an electronic purchase certificate, you no longer need to specify the PINFL of an individual seller. This reduces the administrative burden and makes the process more accessible to market participants.
As of June 2, 2025, e-procurement covered a significant volume of transactions. Thus, 239 public catering enterprises purchased 176 types of agricultural products from individuals for a total of 60.2 billion soums. Beef (195 tons for 20.3 billion soums), mutton (70 tons for 8.7 billion soums), rice (138 tons for 3.2 billion soums) and tomatoes (81 tons for 2.4 billion soums) were in the highest demand among public catering companies.
Exporters were also no less active: 166 organizations purchased 79 types of products worth over 1 trillion soums. The leaders in terms of volumes were apples (50.4 thousand tons for 154.9 billion soums), cabbage (19.2 thousand tons for 117.8 billion soums), dried fruits (8.4 thousand tons for 105.8 billion soums) and sweet cherries (4.4 thousand tons for 102.6 billion soums).
According to experts, the introduction of an electronic form of procurement plays a key role in legalizing the income of agricultural producers, encourages the development of a transparent competitive environment and contributes to the construction of a full-fledged digital market in the agricultural sector. The new mechanism also enhances control over logistics and supply volumes, providing government agencies and market participants with reliable real-time analytics.
The introduction of electronic procurement certificates is becoming an important element of the strategy for digital transformation of the economy of Uzbekistan, ensuring sustainable growth and development of the agro-industrial complex in the new conditions.
