SDEC implemented AI to search for lost packages
SDEC, an international logistics company, has announced the introduction of a new tool based on artificial intelligence, designed to search for lost shipments. According to the company's press service, the technology already demonstrates efficiency in speeding up the return of goods to their owners and significantly reduces the burden on employees.
According to Nikolay Pakhomov, Head of the SDEC Logistics Products Department, previously the process of identifying lost parcels was time-consuming and carried out manually. "For example, it took a lot of time and effort to find a pair of black size 36 sneakers among hundreds of unidentified loads," he said.
Now you just need to upload a photo of a lost item or enter a short description, and the AI algorithm will analyze it based on visual and textual features, suggesting the most likely matches from the internal database. This is especially important in situations where the shipment is found, but the recipient cannot be identified.
SDEC stressed that the use of computer vision in logistics is a global trend. Similar technologies have long been used, for example, in the Amazon system, where AI helps automatically sort refunds, determining the future fate of goods — from re-sale to write-off.
Pakhomov also noted that the current version of the system focuses exclusively on solving the problem of finding lost items. However, in the future, the company plans to expand the capabilities of artificial intelligence, including predictive fleet maintenance, procurement automation, and other areas.
The introduction of AI in SDEC's logistics processes confirms the company's policy of technological development and improving the quality of customer service, focused on maximum efficiency and accuracy of data processing.
