Tashkent, June 3-The Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting of First Deputy Minister Ilkhom Norkulov with a delegation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Investment Center headed by the Center's Director Muhammad Mansouri. Senior Economist Dmitry Prikhodko and representatives of relevant departments of the Ministry took part in the negotiations.
The parties discussed topical areas of bilateral cooperation, including the development of agriculture, ensuring food security, implementing investments that are resistant to climate change, as well as the rational use of land and water resources. Special attention was paid to the issues of increasing financial inclusion and expanding the access of farmers and agribusinesses to investment resources.
During the talks, the parties discussed strategic aspects of attracting private investment to the regions through infrastructure development and the introduction of modern agricultural technologies. They also discussed the need to modernize irrigation systems, improve resource efficiency, and support export-oriented logistics solutions.
FAO representatives noted that with a stable economic policy and ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, there are ample opportunities for implementing long-term investment projects aimed at sustainable development.
The FAO Investment Center is already implementing a number of initiatives in Uzbekistan, including technical assistance in the field of livestock, modernization of water infrastructure, and analytical research in the field of trade and agricultural innovations.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation and continue the dialogue in strategic areas.
