On June 1-2, 2025, Samarkand hosted Second Uzbek-Chinese Interregional Forumorganized by the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event became an important platform for deepening cooperation between the regions of the two countries and expanding cooperation in strategic sectors of the economy.
The Forum brought together more than 200 participants, including representatives of the business community, industrial enterprises, government agencies and local authorities of Uzbekistan and China. The focus was on logistics cooperation, industrial development, introduction of advanced technologies and scientific and technical partnership.
Priority areas — technology, logistics and industrial zones
One of the central topics of discussion was the expansion of industrial cooperation at the regional level. The participants identified a high potential for cooperation in the creation and development of industrial parks, processing plants, as well as in logistics — especially in the context of international transport corridors, including the "One Belt, One Road"initiative.
Special attention was paid to the prospects for research and development (R & D) in such areas as new materials, agricultural technologies and renewable energy sources. The parties expressed their readiness to develop joint laboratories, exchange specialists and launch pilot projects in the field of applied research.
Concrete results — agreements worth hundreds of millions of dollars
As a result of the forum, agreements and memoranda of cooperation totaling over $ 300 million were signed. These agreements cover the development of industrial zones, construction of production facilities, modernization of logistics infrastructure and implementation of joint scientific and technological programs.
The parties also discussed mechanisms for localizing Chinese production facilities in Uzbekistan in order to increase employment and transfer technologies. Some initiatives relate to the agricultural sector — in particular, the introduction of intelligent irrigation management systems and sustainable solutions to increase yields.
A step towards sustainable regional development
The forum in Samarkand confirmed the mutual interest of Uzbekistan and China in building up interregional ties and building a long-term strategic partnership. The participants ' speeches repeatedly emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts at the level of regional administrations, as well as the need to create favorable conditions for the business activity of small and medium-sized businesses.
The event was a continuation of the dialogue launched at the first interregional forum in China and laid a solid foundation for further joint initiatives within the framework of the Eurasian economic cooperation.
