On May 27, 2025, Tashkent hosted an international conference on "E-GATE Conference-Promotion of functional regional cooperation in Central Asia through e-commerce". The event was organized by the World Bank in cooperation with the Agency for Advanced Projects under the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan as part of the E-GATE program aimed at expanding access to global markets through the development of e-commerce.
Within the framework of the conference, Advisor to the Minister Kamola Sobirova took part in a panel session "Creating new jobs for women through digital technologies and e-commerce". The discussion focused on the role of women in the digital economy of Uzbekistan, the opportunities offered by e-commerce, as well as the directions of current and future reforms.
The event was also attended by international and regional experts, representatives of the business community, as well as employees of international financial organizations, including the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
In addition to the conference, Minister for Digital Development Sherzod Shermatov held talks with the World Bank delegation on expanding the project's initiatives Uzbekistan Digital Inclusion and improving programs in the field of digital accessibility.
