On May 28, 2025, the capital of Slovenia — Ljubljana — hosted a joint business forum with the participation of business circles of Uzbekistan and Slovenia. The forum was organized within the framework of the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and became one of the key events of the bilateral program. Slovenian President Natasha Pirc Musar also took part in the event.
The forum brought together representatives of government agencies, entrepreneurs, investors, industry associations and chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries. The main purpose of the meeting was to deepen economic cooperation, strengthen business ties and promote specific investment initiatives that contribute to the sustainable growth of trade and joint projects.
Special attention was paid to the presentation of the investment potential of Uzbekistan. The delegation of the republic presented to the forum participants the reforms implemented in the country, measures to liberalize the economy, create a favorable business climate and protect the rights of foreign investors. Specific opportunities for implementing projects in such sectors as energy, transport logistics, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals and tourism were discussed.
The Slovenian side, in turn, expressed interest in strengthening its presence in the Uzbek market and noted the country's potential as a strategic partner in Central Asia. Common ground was identified in the areas of innovation, digital technologies, mechanical engineering and environmental solutions.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed in his speech that Uzbekistan is open to active dialogue with European countries and seeks to diversify foreign economic relations. He called on entrepreneurs of the two countries to move from dialogue to the implementation of joint projects, emphasizing the republic's readiness for in-depth cooperation.
Slovenian President Natasha Pirc Musar responded by noting that Uzbekistan is becoming an increasingly important partner in the Eurasian space. She stressed Slovenia's interest in developing long-term economic relations, especially in the light of the transformation of the global economy and the need to build sustainable logistics chains.
The forum resulted in presentations of projects, as well as negotiations between the business circles of the two countries in the B2B format. The participants noted the high level of organization of the event and expressed confidence that the agreements reached will have a positive impact on the dynamics of bilateral cooperation.
It is expected that following the forum, a number of agreements and memoranda of cooperation will be signed, as well as new areas of partnership between business representatives of Uzbekistan and Slovenia will be launched.
