Construction of UTY EMU-250 high-speed trains started in Uzbekistan

Uzbek Railways JSC has started implementing one of the largest infrastructure projects in recent years — the construction of high-speed electric trains UTY EMU-250. The new trains are being developed in cooperation with the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem, which has considerable experience in the production of rolling stock for high-speed highways.

The project is part of a large-scale modernization program of the railway industry in Uzbekistan and is aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of passenger transportation. Special attention is paid to the introduction of modern technologies that ensure safety, reliability and a high level of comfort.

It is planned that the first UTY EMU-250 trains will be put into operation in 2027. As a pilot route, the Tashkent–Bukhara section was chosen, where traditionally there is a high passenger flow. The new trains will significantly reduce travel time between the country's largest cities, thereby making rail transport more attractive to the public and businesses.

According to experts, the launch of UTY EMU-250 will not only increase the level of mobility of the population, but also have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the regions. Improved transport links will help boost domestic tourism, expand logistics opportunities and create new jobs.

The project is also seen as an important step towards integrating Uzbekistan into international transport corridors, strengthening ties with the countries of the region and increasing the investment attractiveness of the country as a whole.
