Uzbekistan and Russia agree on joint production of locomotives and passenger cars

Negotiations between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation on expanding industrial cooperation were held in Tashkent as part of the Innoprom Central Asia International industrial exhibition. One of the key areas of cooperation was the agreement on the start of joint production of locomotives and passenger cars in Uzbekistan.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the negotiations were held with the participation of representatives of the largest specialized companies-the Russian Transmashholding and the Uzbek enterprise Uztemiryulmashtamirlash. The parties discussed the mechanisms of gradual localization of production, the introduction of modern technologies, as well as the launch of new production lines based on existing capacities.

During the discussions, special attention was paid to the creation of high-tech jobs, training of engineering and technical personnel, as well as the development of the country's railway infrastructure. It is assumed that the implementation of joint projects will increase the level of technological independence of Uzbekistan in the field of transport engineering and reduce dependence on imports of rolling stock.

In addition to the transport sector, the meeting participants discussed the prospects for increasing trade and industrial cooperation in other sectors of the economy. In particular, they discussed increasing the volume of mutual supplies of chemical products, medical devices, components for pharmaceuticals and high-tech industrial equipment.

The Innoprom Central Asia exhibition has become an effective platform for strengthening the bilateral dialogue between Uzbekistan and Russia, and the agreements reached reflect the mutual interest of the parties in deepening industrial partnership.
