Uzbekistan is considering a draft law on taxation of bloggers with an audience of more than 10 thousand subscribers

In Uzbekistan, a public discussion has begun on such a bill as the bill on taxation of bloggers, aimed at regulating the activities of bloggers, influencers and owners of online platforms. One of the key provisions of the document is the obligation of individuals with an audience of more than 10 thousand subscribers to register as taxpayers and pay the corresponding taxes on income received from digital activities.

The bill introduces official definitions of such concepts as "blogger", "influencer" and "online platform"for the first time at the legislative level. It also provides for rules regarding liability for the dissemination of false or misleading information on the Internet, including fakes and manipulative publications that can influence public opinion or harm the reputation of individuals and organizations.

The proposed measures are aimed at increasing transparency in the creation and distribution of digital content, as well as creating clearer rules for participants in the media space. The authorities emphasize that the introduction of tax regulation will allow equalizing conditions for all market participants, as well as ensure fair replenishment of the state budget through activities that previously remained in the gray zone.

Public discussion of the bill will last until May 27. Anyone interested can send their suggestions, comments and comments, which will be considered by the relevant departments before the final adoption of the document.

It is expected that the adoption of the law will be an important step in the development of the digital environment of Uzbekistan and strengthening the legal framework governing online activities.
