In Uzbekistan, admission to correspondence education in higher education institutions will stop from 2025. The relevant decision is stipulated in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, signed on May 5, 2025.
The measure was adopted as part of the implementation of the strategy to modernize the higher education system, improve its quality and bring it in line with modern training requirements. The main focus will be on developing formats that provide a higher level of student engagement and improve the quality of knowledge acquisition.
Students who are already studying by correspondence will be able to complete their studies according to the established schedule before the end of their course. Instead of the correspondence form, it is planned to gradually expand other types of training — such as evening and distance learning — with the introduction of new educational technologies and increased control over the quality of teaching.
It is expected that these changes will create conditions for more effective training of specialists, as well as allow universities to focus on training formats that best meet modern standards and requirements of the economy.
