Uzbekistan and the European Union signed a 12 billion euro agreement to develop infrastructure and sustainable energy

Uzbekistan and the European Union have signed a €12 billion agreement aimed at implementing strategic projects in the field of sustainable energy, transport infrastructure and digital transformation. The document was signed following the results of the first European Union – Central Asia summit, which was held in Samarkand and became an important milestone in strengthening interregional partnership.

According to the statement of the European Council, the agreement covers a broad support program, including the development of renewable energy sources, modernization of transport routes, as well as the expansion of digital infrastructure, including the introduction of modern telecommunications technologies. Special attention will be paid to reducing the carbon footprint and stimulating the transition to a green economy.

Financing under the agreement will be provided through various financial instruments of the European Union, including public investment, loans from international financial institutions and private sector participation. It is planned that the projects will be implemented taking into account sustainable standards, transparency and priority for local development.

The Government of Uzbekistan sees this agreement as an important step in strengthening international cooperation and attracting high-tech solutions to the national economy. Within the framework of the agreements reached, the parties also agreed to continue the political dialogue and exchange of experience in key areas of sustainable development.
