On April 22, 2025, Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Uzbekistan Ufuk Ulutash in Tashkent. The talks were held in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere, highlighting the high level of political and economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the activation of trade and economic relations. The parties discussed the possibilities of expanding the list of goods covered by the preferential trade agreement, and also expressed their readiness to speed up the process of concluding a bilateral agreement in the field of conformity assessment. The signing of this agreement will simplify the mechanisms for mutual recognition of standards and technical regulations, thereby contributing to a freer movement of goods between countries.
A separate topic was the increase in the volume of mutual trade. The parties confirmed their desire to increase it to $ 5 billion in the coming years. To achieve this goal, it is planned to activate business contacts, expand investment cooperation, as well as support joint projects in priority sectors, such as the textile and food industries, mechanical engineering, logistics and construction.
Uzbekistan and Turkey have consistently strengthened their strategic partnership based on the principles of mutual respect and trust. The development of economic ties with Turkey opens up new opportunities for Uzbekistan to attract technology, capital investment and create high-tech industries, which corresponds to the long-term goals of sustainable growth of the national economy.
