Uzbekistan introduces artificial rainmaking technology to combat drought

In the Konimekh district of Navoi region, the technology of artificial rainmaking was applied for the first time in Uzbekistan. This pilot project was implemented with the assistance of the Kazakhstan company International Center of Climate Change Technologies (ICCT) and aims to counteract drought, improve pasture conditions and increase water availability in arid regions.

The essence of the technology is to create favorable conditions for precipitation formation using modern methods of atmospheric influence. Such measures can stimulate rainfall in areas experiencing a lack of moisture, which is especially important for desert and semi-desert areas of the country.

The initiative was an important step in the implementation of the state strategy for sustainable agricultural development and adaptation to climate change. It is expected that the use of such technologies will increase pasture productivity, improve conditions for animal husbandry, and reduce the risks associated with dry periods.

The project also demonstrates Uzbekistan's openness to implementing best international practices in the field of environmental protection and natural resources. In case of successful results in Navoi region, it is planned to expand the geography of application of the technology to other regions of the country where similar climate problems are observed.

Thus, Uzbekistan is taking an important step towards modernizing its environmental policy and strengthening the sustainability of its agricultural territories in the face of global climate challenges.
