The Government of Uzbekistan has announced its intention to significantly increase the volume of lemon exports, including active promotion of products on the Russian market. This is stated in the message of the official portal of the Cabinet of Ministers. As part of the ongoing agricultural development program, it is planned to harvest at least 72.5 thousand tons of lemons in the country by 2026, of which 5.55 thousand tons will be exported. This figure is more than twice the volume of previous years.
An increase in the production and export potential of lemon products will be the result of a large-scale modernization of the industry. Modern greenhouse complexes are actively developing in the country, drip irrigation systems are being introduced, and the varietal composition of planting material is improving. All these measures are aimed at increasing crop yields, climate resistance and compliance with international quality standards.
At the same time, steps are being taken to expand foreign trade channels. In the coming years, it is planned to open foreign trade and marketing offices under the brand Denov agro star. They will be engaged in systematic promotion of Uzbek citrus fruits in the countries of near and far abroad, providing direct deliveries, participation in exhibitions, signing contracts with retailers and distributors.
Russia is considered as one of the key sales markets, given the high consumption capacity, geographical proximity and growing interest in environmentally friendly and high-quality fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan. The expansion of lemon exports will not only strengthen economic ties between the two countries, but also increase foreign exchange earnings, as well as create additional jobs in the agricultural sector.
