Rosatom has started preparing for the construction of a small nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan

State Corporation Rosatom has started the preparatory stage of construction of a small nuclear power plant (NPP) in the Jizzakh region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This is reported by the press service of the company.

At the site of the future power plant, work has already been launched to create an installation base, which includes administrative buildings, warehouses, production facilities and other necessary infrastructure facilities. This stage is a key beginning in the implementation of a major energy project designed for a long-term perspective.

According to the project, the NPP will consist of six power units with a new generation of RITM-200N reactors. Each reactor has a capacity of 55 megawatts. These technologies have already been used on Russian Arctic icebreakers and have proven to be reliable, efficient and safe to operate.

The construction of a small nuclear power plant is aimed at ensuring the energy security of Uzbekistan and meeting the growing demand for electricity in the context of sustainable economic growth. An important feature of the project is compliance with high environmental standards, which makes it part of the republic's sustainable development strategy.

The implementation of the project with the participation of Rosatom will be an important step in strengthening Russian-Uzbek cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and will allow Uzbekistan to reach a qualitatively new level of development of its own energy infrastructure.
