The Chinese marketplace Temu has received the status of a resident legal entity in Uzbekistan. According to the Tax Committee, the company completed registration on March 14, but the issue of tax payments for previous years is still being discussed.
Now Temu needs to register as a VAT payer. The Tax Committee noted that the company, as an electronic trading platform, can provide reports for the entire period of operation in the country.
As an example, the agency cited Wildberries. After the tax audit, the Russian marketplace paid an additional 51.2 billion soums, of which 42.8 billion soums was VAT for 2022-2024.
Unlike Facebook, Amazon and other foreign companies that voluntarily pay VAT without registering as residents, Temu now officially operates in Uzbekistan and undertakes to comply with all tax requirements.
