UFA: Franchise market in Uzbekistan to grow by 2000% in ten years

Franchise Association of Uzbekistan UFA made a statement: There are more than 500 franchise brands operating in Uzbekistan today, and their number will increase significantly in the future. This was stated by Viktor Lyashevsky, an international expert on franchising, scaling and strategic development of companies.

Early stage and growth prospects

"Franchising in Uzbekistan is at a very early stage. Currently, there are 520 franchise brands operating in the country. For comparison, there are seven times more of them in Russia," Lyashevsky said during a webinar organized by the Franchise Association of Uzbekistan (UFA). The expert actively cooperates with UFA.

According to him, in Uzbekistan there are 21.3 thousand franchise pointsand the share of franchising in gross domestic product (GDP) is 0,2%. This indicator is significantly inferior not only to Russia and the United States, but also to countries such as Zimbabwe, where it is registered 880 brands.

Forecast: 20x growth in ten years

The combination of a low base, population growth and dynamic market development makes it possible to predict rapid growth of franchising in Uzbekistan.

"Growth of the franchise market in Uzbekistan is on the horizon seven or ten years old will make up 2000%. This figure is quite realistic, if we recall the development of the Russian franchise market in the early 2000s, " said Lyashevsky.

Priority areas

According to UFA, the most promising areas for franchise development in Uzbekistan are education, food service, retail and e-commerce.

Experts are confident that the active development of these segments will create conditions for rapid growth of the franchise model in the country and increase its contribution to the economy.
