Uzbekistan and France have signed more than 20 agreements and contracts covering key areas, including agriculture, energy, green economy, transport and other sectors. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan.
Business Forum in Paris
Before the state visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a business forum was held in Paris, which brought together representatives of relevant ministries, as well as about 100 leading companies, financial and business organizations of the two countries.
Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov stressed the importance of the forum as a platform for strengthening partnerships and finding new opportunities for bilateral economic cooperation.
Main areas of partnership
The development of transport and logistics infrastructure, diversification of trade corridors, geological exploration, as well as the introduction of advanced French technologies were highlighted among the priority areas of cooperation.
Trade and economic relations between the two countries show stable growth. In 2024, the bilateral trade turnover reached 1.1 billion dollarsby increasing by 14% compared to the previous year. The volume of Uzbekistan's exports to France amounted to 800 million dollarswhich is almost twice as much as a year earlier, and imports reached 330 million dollars.
French business in Uzbekistan
To date, Uzbekistan employs more than 50 French companiesactively contributing to the development of various industries. Among them are large international corporations Orano, SUEZ, Veolia, Total Energies, Voltalia, EDF, Lactalis и Airbuscompanies operating in the fields of energy, infrastructure, ecology, aviation, food industry and tourism.
Forum results
Within the framework of the event, meetings were held in the following formats: B2B and G2Bwhere representatives of business and government agencies discussed promising areas of cooperation.
Following the business forum, a large-scale package of documents was signed, including agreements and contracts in the following areas: agriculture, energy, green economy, urban development, water supply, transportation, mining, health and education.
The agreements reached confirm the high level of bilateral cooperation and open up new prospects for the development of economic partnership between Uzbekistan and France.
