Oppo Find N5 allows you to remotely control your Mac and share files with it

Folding smartphone Oppo Find N5 received support for the app Oppo O Plus Connect, which allows you to remotely control your Mac and transfer files between devices. The new functionality was tested by journalists The Verge.

When you remotely access macOS from Oppo Find N5, the screen can be stretched to either the entire smartphone display or half of it. In the latter case, the device turns into a kind of laptop: one part of the screen acts as a display, and the other - as a virtual keyboard.

You don't need your Mac and Find N5 to be on the same Wi-Fi network to use this feature. However, according to The Verge. working with macOS via a folding smartphone is not very convenient:

"Using all of this is still quite clumsy. The screen is too small to be fully enjoyed, and macOS wasn't designed with touch gestures in mind.", — The Verge.

In addition to remote control, Oppo Find N5 offers the ability to transfer files between devices. Unlike the first mode, for this function to work your smartphone and computer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Despite this limitation, The Verge they highly appreciated the convenience of data transfer, noting that this method is much simpler than standard file sharing methods between Android and Mac.

Once connected, the files stored on the Find N5 are available on your Mac, making data transfer fast and convenient. The functionality can be compared with iPhone Mirroring, but in the opposite direction.

Oppo Find N5 was submitted February 20, 2025. At the time of release, this is the most slim folding smartphone on the market - when folded, its thickness is 8.93 mm.
