Central Asia is actively developing the IT sector and introducing cloud technologies. This creates favorable conditions for technology companies and drives demand for cloud services. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan demonstrate stable growth of the digital economy, expanding the need for virtual services and infrastructure. Serverspace, an international cloud provider that is part of ITG Corporation, analyzed the most promising markets in the region.
Kazakhstan actively promotes cloud technologies as part of its digital transformation. According to iKS-Consulting, in 2023, the volume of the infrastructure cloud provider market in the country reached 33.2 billion tenge, an increase of 69% compared to the previous year. Forecasts for 2024 indicate further growth to 54.6 billion tenge (by 64.5%). Despite the rapid development of the sector, a significant part of the commercial market is not yet covered by virtual services, which creates ample opportunities for implementing modern IT solutions.
Uzbekistan IT also demonstrates the dynamic growth of the IT sector. In 2023, the number of IT Park resident companies increased 1.9 times and reached 1,652, and their total income exceeded $ 1 billion. Exports of IT services increased 2.4 times, amounting to $ 344 million. The main destinations were the US, UK, EU and CIS countries. In 2024, the IT Park Ventures venture fund was launched to support IT startups. Active development of the industry, state support and attraction of investments make Uzbekistan a promising market for cloud technologies and digital solutions.
In Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan there is also a significant growth in the cloud market. Two new data centers are planned to be built in Azerbaijan in 2024, which will increase the availability of cloud solutions for local developers, fintech startups and large companies working with Big Data and AI. In Kyrgyzstan, small and medium-sized businesses are actively implementing digital technologies, which increases the demand for cloud services. The development of the cloud market opens up new business opportunities. In Tajikistan, the cloud infrastructure is still in its infancy, but within the framework of the” Digital Economy Concept", the government is actively developing IT skills, creating data centers and implementing cloud solutions. However, business models and the market require further development.
"Central Asia is rapidly becoming one of the key digital hubs, and cloud technologies are becoming its foundation. Their development will not only accelerate the introduction of innovations, but also open up new prospects for business and international cooperation. We are already working in Kazakhstan and continue to strengthen our position in this country. Now we are preparing to enter the Uzbek market and offer local users modern world-class cloud services”, - said the head of the Serverspace project, ITG Corporation, Andrey Smirnov.
