A consortium of investors led by entrepreneur Elon Musk and the head of the U.S. Department of Public Administration Efficiency (DOGE) has offered $ 97.4 billion to acquire the nonprofit organization that controls OpenAI. This is reported by Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, Musk's lawyer Mark Toberoff on February 10 sent an official application to the OpenAI board of directors for the purchase of all assets of the non-profit organization.
OpenAI became widely known for creating ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-based chatbot that became extremely popular after launching in November 2022, gaining its first million users in less than a week.
Elon Musk was one of the co-founders of OpenAI in 2015, but later severed ties with the company.
