Uzbekistan tightens identification rules in banking and payment applications

From February 7, 2025, new rules for users of mobile applications of banks and payment systems will come into force in Uzbekistan. Customers who have not passed the identification procedure will not be able to make transfers from card to card.

As part of the innovations, identification using Face ID technology becomes mandatory. If the user tries to log in to the app from a new device, payments and transfers will not be possible, even if the password and one-time code are entered correctly, without confirming their identity through a face scan.

Starting from February 10, an additional measure will be introduced: if a financial institution allows operations without identification, and this leads to fraudulent actions, the bank or payment system will be obliged to compensate the client for the damage caused.

How to complete identification:

1. Open the mobile app of your bank or payment system.
2. Select the "Pass identification" option.
3. Enter your passport details.
4. Complete the Face ID scan procedure.

These changes are aimed at strengthening the protection of personal data and improving the security of financial transactions.
