Uzbekistan launches new agricultural modernization project

On January 27, 2025, a new project on agricultural modernization was presented in Uzbekistan, which is designed to significantly increase yields and improve the quality of agricultural products in the country. This project has become part of the government's strategic program for the development of the agricultural sector until 2030, which provides not only for the introduction of new technologies, but also for increasing the level of agricultural resilience to climate change.

The project includes several key areas: introduction of innovative farming methods, development of agronomic education and training of farmers in modern working methods, improvement of infrastructure for transportation and storage of products, as well as increasing the volume of exported goods. An important part of the program is the introduction of digital technologies, such as a monitoring system for monitoring the state of the soil, drip irrigation and the use of smart agricultural machines.

Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Makhmudov during the presentation noted that the project is aimed at making the agricultural sector more efficient and resilient to external influences. It is expected that through the introduction of new technologies and best practices, the country will be able to significantly increase its export capacity, as well as ensure food security and improve the quality of life of rural residents.

Special attention will be paid to small and medium-sized farmers who will have access to subsidies, training and technological solutions. This will improve their financial situation and increase their competitiveness in the market. The development of the agricultural sector will be one of the most important factors in strengthening the economy of Uzbekistan in the coming years.
